Noon League: Safety & Fun On Our Playground
Mrs. Cressio, our School Climate Coordinator, is the proud parent of four children and four grandchildren. Her youngest daughter was a Williams Whale! Mrs. Cressio is motivated and passionate about teaching children about positivity, respect and personal responsibility. Noon League began at Williams in 1996. Our Noon League team works hard to organize safe, fun, and cooperative activities for our Williams students each day. Through cooperative sports and activities, our team promotes a strong sense of belonging, tolerance of our individuality, and a strong bond within our school family as well as with our surrounding community and businesses. Noon League continues today with the dedicated help and support of many wonderful parent volunteers. An adult supervises each Noon League Activity such as Game Corner, Art Corner, EX-Kids, Extreme Arena Soccer, Quidditch, Guitar Days, Jump Rope Corner, Chess & Checkers Corner, and Whale Walk. New cooperative activities are introduced each month based on suggestions from students, staff, and parents. Students earn whale slips daily by participating in the Noon League activities. Students can save these slips for Lunch with the Principal (35 student slips needed) or for our Month End Drawing where they can win prizes from one of our many generous sponsors. Sponsors like Amato’s Pizza, Mimi’s Cafe, Malibu Grand Prix, The Tech Museum, the San Jose and San Francisco Giants, Laser Quest, Sky High, iFly, The Discovery Museum, The Jungle, and many more. We also have many parent- donated prizes as well. The goal of Noon League is to encourage students to come and play cooperatively, make new friends, build strong bonds, teach responsibility, and to build self-esteem through non- competitive play. Noon League “Sports” activities use a cooperative point scoring system, specially developed to encourage participation, to try something new, and to ultimately promote safety and a fun place for students to grow together in a positive way. The success of Noon League depends on our wonderful volunteers. There are many different areas where you can Make the Difference! We need volunteers to help supervise all activities during lunch from 11:56 am - 1:06 pm. All volunteers are trained in game rules and our cooperative scoring system. The job of the parent volunteer is to supervise students as they play cooperatively, and to hand out whale slips at the end of each activity. For the working parent who can’t take time out during the day, we could always use donations for our game corner such as cards, coloring books & crayons or chalk, and board games. We also need volunteers to fill out pre-made certificates at the end of each session. Do you have a special skill or activity you would like to share with our students? Let’s make it a new Noon League activity!
