AP Information Night
Is your child interested in taking an AP class next year? Leland will be holding an AP Information Night on Thursday, March 12th from 6pm-7:30pm beginning in the ITC. There will be a brief informational session about AP course offerings at Leland, followed by three breakout sessions where students and parents will be able to choose among presentations made by Leland teachers about the specific AP classes that they teach. Teachers will discuss curriculum and expectations about their classes and provide time to answer questions you may have. We hope you are able to join us.
AP Testing Sign-Ups will begin on February 2nd. Students will sign up in the School Bank during their AP classes. Price per test is $105.00 and students may pay for all test with one check. Checks should be made payable to Leland High School. Payment may also be made using a credit/debit card. If students are unable to sign-up for the test with their AP class, they may go to the bank on their own to make the payment. Deadline for payment is March 20th.
If there is a financial difficulty that affects a student's ability to make this payment, he/she may pay a $30 non-refundable deposit per test with the balance due in April. If a student qualifies for a fee waiver, he/she should contact Assistant Principal, Ms. Callaway-Wilson. Students should contact their AP Teachers for additional questions.
WASC AccreditationThe Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) has granted accreditation to Leland High School through June 30, 2020. This was the best possible outcome of our self-study report and the WASC committee's visit in March 2014. All Leland stakeholders, including staff, students, parents, and the community, played a critical role in earning this accreditation status. Congratulations! We will focus on our WASC Action Plan for the next six years. A mid-year report is due to WASC in 2017.
