Leland's Shannon Sullivan -Reaches Semi-Finals

CCOC Video Production teacher Jeff Schmidt announces that CCOC and Leland student Shannon Sullivan's video, "Self Harm" is a semi-finalist in the California Student Media Festival and may be shown in a one hour special on PBS. "Self Harm" has been nominated for a special category award in the 47th Annual California Student Media Festival. Special category winners will be announced on the website, www.mediafestival.org on Monday, May 20th.

Japanese Language and American Sign Language Classes

Students enrolling in Japanese Language and American Sign Language classes at Leland must also register through San Jose City College. Although both classes are taught at Leland, the courses are offered through SJCC and are taught by college instructors. In addition to earning credits towards the SJUSD foreign language requirement for graduation, students also receive college credits while in high school. Email Procedures

In 2010-11, SJUSD acquired a more effective email filtering system. Parents no longer need to register their email addressees to communicate with teachers or administrators. We understand the importance of communicating quickly and effectively with parents, community members, and others outside of San Jose Unified School District, and hopefully this change will allow communication to flow more smoothly. If anyone is aware of legitimate emails not being received or being blocked by the filter, please call the school or teacher directly to have the issue resolved.
